Conference venue - 12 to 14 March 2025
Our conference venue is Hauiti marae which is located at 29 Hauiti Road in Ūawa Tolaga Bay.
Hauiti marae’s iwi is Te Aitanga a Hauiti. It’s principal hapū are Ngāi Tutekohi and Ngāti Kahukuranui of Te Aitanga a Hauiti iwi. The wharenui is Ruakapanga and connects ancestally to four waka - Horouta, Nukutaimemeha, Takitimu and Tereanini, the maunga Titirangi, and the awa Uawanui-a-Ruamatua.
A pōwhiri prior to the conference will be held at 8.30am on Wednesday 12 March 2025.. Please assemble at the marae entrance by 8.15am
Marae protocol
Please wear smart casual clothing
Manuhiri/visitors will be welcomed on with a karanga/formal welcome call. Women should be at the front as we walk onto the marae, men behind.
Seating is to the right. Men should sit at the front. Women should sit behind the men.
Whakatau:
No shoes are to be worn in the wharenui.
No photos or videos can be taken in the wharenui.
No alcohol or recreational drugs are allowed on marae grounds
Pre-conference Workshop
Reynolds hall, 11 Monkhouse Street, Ūawa Tolaga Bay, will be the venue for the pre-conference workshop - Nature-based solutions for coastal communities - presented by Jim Dahm.
